Globocam on the lookout for the latest clean technologies

The Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo, North America’s largest advanced transportation technology and clean fleet event, took place from April 30 to May 4 in Long Beach, California. Globocam had the opportunity to attend the popular expo and to get a sneak peak of what’s in store when it comes to heavy-truck technology trends.

Representing us, Christian Bazinet participated in a number of discussions involving the various technologies related to electric, hybrid, gas-powered, and fuel cell trucks. And according to what we were told, the future is promising!

Based on what was said at the latest ACT Expo, it is reasonable to believe that 100% electric trucks will be an option in the near future for shorter drive ranges. City trucks, for instance, should have a range of approximately 450 km within the next five years. As for long-distance trucks, the hybrid option could make more sense since batteries can’t allow very long distance travel yet.

A number of government incentives have been implemented to encourage a shift towards more sustainable transportation. Natural gas, in particular, is increasingly popular and above all a very cost-effective energy source. With government returns of up to $30,000 on purchase (Canada) or a 50% credit at the pump (USA), cleaner technologies should become increasingly prevalent in our industry.
